The largest high-altitude lake in North America is situated in Yellowstone National Park with a total area of 136 square miles including 110 miles along its shore and an elevation of 7,732. Yellowstone Lake freezes during the winter months and contains cutthroat trout, longnose suckers, redside shiners, longnose dace and lake chubs.
