Officially called the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, this extraordinary structure was designed by famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright and is located in Manhattan's Upper East Side. The Guggenheim was established in 1939 housing its collection in various rented spaces until the current building opened in 1959. It was named after its founder. Between 900,000 –1.15 million people annually visit The Guggenheim, which has amassed several large private art collections including 600 given to it by Solomon R. Guggenheim.
