Florida's longest river is this 310-mile waterway flowing north through 12 of the Sunshine State's counties from St. John's Marsh to the Atlantic Ocean. St. Johns River runs through state capital city of Jacksonville as well as Sanford, Deltona, DeLand, Palatka, Green Cove Springs and Orange Park. It first appeared on a map in 1502. The river was featured in books by authors Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings and Harriet Beecher Stowe. St. Johns River points of interest are Lake George, Blue Spring State Park and the Ocklawaha River.
