Just south of the city of Nakuru is the dazzling Lake Nakuru and the national park that surrounds here. Well known for its high population of flamingos - up to a million or more - that gather on the picturesque shores of the lake, the park is a sanctuary for the black and white rhinos. The lake itself is a shallow alkaline lake of varying water levels that rests at 1754 meters above sea level.
