While Buenos Aires is the capital of Argentina and the federal district, La Plata serves as the capital of the surrounding Province of Buenos Aires and is one of the most booming cities besides the capital. Though the majority of the population have roots in Spain and Italy, the city also hosts Spanish, Italian, Arab, and Jewish communities which manage a variety of institutions throughout the city. As a planned city, La plata follows a structured grid system that divides its various regions, but it also exemplifies a variety of architectural styles, from neoclassical to Art Deco.
