This trendy area in Lower Manhattan features Washington Square Park and its landmark ornate arch as well as New York University. Greenwich Village was established in 1712 and was at the center of the Bohemian movement during the Mid-20th Century attracting many artists. Popular sites are Washington Square Park, Bleecker Street, Cherry Lane Theatre and Jefferson Market Library. The structure at 90 Bedford Street was used as the exterior shot of the apartment building in the hit television series "Friends." Greenwich Village is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
