Located on the River Weser, Bremen is a commercial and industrial city in northwestern Germany. Formerly a member of the medieval Hanseatic League, Bremen contains many historic sites from its 1200 years of history. Many of these sights are found in Bremen’s Marktplatz (Market square), including the Town Hall of Bremen. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bremen's construction begun in 1405. The residents of Bremen are avid football fans and Bremen has one of Germany’s most thrilling soccer teams.
